Veerata Jaycees Jhapa has announced that it will be awarding the acting duo of Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus) and Kunjana Ghimire (Suntali) with the Utkrishta Nagarik Samman award this year.
"The award is in recognition of the acting duo's remarkable philanthropic work in the wake of the 2015 quake, and their contribution in the reconstruction works," said Binod Basnet, co-ordinator of the Nagarik Samman ceremony that took place in Kakkadbhitta on Sunday.
Right from the immediate aftermath of the quakes, the acting duo has been active in relief and reconstruction works across the most-affected districts. So far, the duo, through their Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation, has spearheaded the construction of three model settlements, in Sindhupalchok, Kavrepalanchok and Mahottari districts.
The award will be presented amid a ceremony slated to be held in Birtamode on April 16.
