
Property worth Rs 10 million plus was damaged as 60 houses were gutted in a fire at Koshi Rural Municiaplity-5 in Sunsari district on Thursday.
The fire that started from the kitchen of Manaru Miya of the area destroyed the houses of 43 families.
The District Police Office, Sunsari, said that the houses of Salam Miya, Salim Miya, Sahid Miya, Rahina Khatun and others were completely destroyed.
The fire was brought under control with the help of fire engines from Inaruwa, Itahari, Dharan, Biratnagar and Rajbiraj.
Superintendent of Police of Sunsari Poshraj Pokharel said that no human casualty has been reported in the fire.
Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Gopal Prasad Parajuli also made an onsite visit to the location soon after the fire raged.
The incidents of fire have increased in the district in the recent days mainly due to dry season and strong storm taking place these days.
Just two days ago, a total of 11 houses were also gutted to cinders in the same location.
Forest caught with fire in Udayapur
Meanwhile, nearly 500 hectares of forest in different community forests in the eastern belt in Udayapur district has been destroyed due fire.
