Health Minister of Nepal Gagan Thapa has directed the private hospitals to implement the 10% free services compulsorily for the patients who are economically weak.

Through one of the press conference held on Monday, Health Minister Thapa said the government has sent the correspondence to all the private hospitals to begin this service from Poush 1.

The ministry said that there is the management of providing 10% free treatment services even though the private hospitals have not implemented it so the minister has directed to implement compulsorily.

In this counseling for patient, laboratory, bed, nursing, diagnostic service and oxygen should be given free.

Dr. Ramesh Koirala, advisor of Health Minister Thapa said to the media that from now, all the private hospitals should have kept the name list of the patients name and bed number in the hospital where everyone can see that have been given free service.

In addition, the ministry even has directed to paste the stickers in everyones bed writing free service patients who have been taking free services. Similarly, the hospitals must give to fill "Self declaration Form" from the patients and must submit in the related government agencies.

It also has been mentioned that it has been arranged of the monitoring by the District Administration Office, District Health Office, Municipality, and VDCs of the district on the issue that wither the private hospitals are providing 10% free services or not.
