CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli argued that the ruling parties were hesitant to conduct the local level elections slated for May 14 because of the "foreseeable landslide victory" of his party.Addressing a mass meeting of UML organised in Pokhara, Oli stressed that the elections must be conducted at any cost, despite the disruption threat from some parties.The disruption, according to him, would not be easy because voters in the Madhes region were also in favour of the elections.
The government failed to appoint top officials at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Nepal Police and Office of the Auditor General, pointed out Oli, adding that the developmental works were also halted.
After the elections, according to the main opposition leader, the UML would form a government and work towards prosperity.
The former Prime Minister added that the reliance on Indian import brought about the shortage of food and petroleum products in the nation many often, so more border crossing-points with China should be opened up and the trade and transit treaty with the northern neighbour should be implemented.
